"Conference “Resonating with maths and science”

Have you ever thought that mathematics or physics were illogical, difficult or even impossible ? Well, after listening to this talk, you realize you could not have been more wrong. Through this conference, three scientists (Abhilash Sreekumar, Arasan Uthayasuriyan and Vivek T. Ramamoorthy) worked towards the popularization of these subjects. Science and mathematics were finally accessible to any 11th or 12th grader.

They even succeeded in linking our curriculum to their fields of research. As you direct yourself towards the exit, you are compelled to remember a moment where you were totally absorbed, considering the diversity of subjects, which went from “how the different scientists changed their perception of science as time went by” to the explanation of “how simple calculus really is”.

But what was the most important about this conference for a student who is thinking about pursuing a career in science is the fact that it comforted you in this idea. Indeed, for two hours, we were confronted with three scientists who knew exactly what they were talking about and could give you concrete examples of what you could achieve with a PhD and different fields of research you could work in. Therefore you realized that your future does not seem all that blur and vague after all.

To summarize, this talk was a real confidence booster because it motivates people in pursuing an education in science and/or mathematics, two subjects on which students generally have a lot of prejudices."
